This is concept art I commissioned from  not-fun to use as reference material for a set of fully rendered illustrations for a book I have written that is currently being edited.

Keep an eye on my writing account,  codelizard. I will be posting the completed book, The Planeswalker: Between Skies there when it is ready. It is a high fantasy story taking place in a world made of islands floating among the clouds, where airship travel is common and magical crystals are used as the primary power source for devices and machinery big and small. It is a story of adventure, and the bonds of a group on a journey of great importance.

Linya is the second of the allies Randival rallied to his cause, a lung dragon ("furred dragon" in-setting). A scholar and researcher most of the time, yet still a competent conjurer in her own right. Analytical and intelligent, she does have the tendency to succumb to tunnel-vision at times in her work. This journey serves as a way for her to put what she has learned to the test; she has no weapons nor any armor, so she must rely entirely on her magic to defend herself.

(As a side note, this is easily the best of the set; the artist basically nailed exactly the mental image I had for Linya. Excellent work!)
