The prompt's word was 'recycle', with a stipulation of remaining under 365 words.
Imagine life on a generation ship where you're every generation. You spend lifetimes getting from A to B, and you remember each monotonous one as your memories are preserved and implanted in a random infant spawned of the previous generation. A mechanical interpretation of spiritual cycles of life and death, maybe, or maybe just an overlong shift at the factory before finally coming to a new home.
There isn't much to make this furry, except for a singular word, but I figure a race that spends so much time alone with themselves doesn't have much to remark upon by way of appearance. I hope readers find it a little thought-provoking.

Even at near-light speeds, traveling between star-systems is the work of centuries. The ship in this piece doesn't mention what speed it's going at, but you can get the idea that Command is a little inefficient, and their methods are a little arbitrary and out of date. If you like to be extra bleak and horrifying, imagine several hundred generations. As for the gender, well, it's all the same biological process we're used to on earth! Some girls are born, some boys are born, and whatever body you're slotted into doesn't seem to matter to the higher ups. What impact this might have on the enduring centuries-old psyche, well... pondering that is what the piece is meant to do! So I hope you enjoyed, lol.

Ah I see, very interesting! I don't think that would be feasible without giving them some downtime, they're still only people after all. And yes that's what suspected, it would probably come as a bit of a shock the first time a person wakes up the opposite sex, especially if they had originally been male and suddenly producing the next generation becomes considerably more complicated and time-consuming for them than it had been the last time.
heh missed that one, and you're welcome, thanks for sharing it with us! Even if as a result I'm not signing up for a generation ship any time soon ;)
