This will be the first installment of my World Building process for the Plane of Aperya, it will act like a Question and Answer style, as that's how I get my information out, and if you have any questions for this or topics you want me to go over on the next segment, Please comment them.
What even is Aperya?
It is a plane in Magic the Gathering multiverse, but far from the main conflict and is away from any characters from it. (for now)
It is a spherical planet with 6 major land masses, and one floating one.
Talien’s main story happens mostly on the continent of Riventail, which comprises the ruins of an old race of civilizations taken over by nature and animal humanoids, Fennixs, Foxens and other races like them.
(Map at a later Date. AKA when I draw one.)
What is its Geology?
There are “Five” main layers.
The Burrows: a series of deep underground tunnels that was made by the gods to connect all the continents together, most tunnels are empty and filled with dangerous creatures due to it being dormant.
The Surface: Typical Earth things other than there are 6 main islands with many separate floating islands around them.
The Sky: The clouds of Aperya are sturdy and can hold structures and people, most bird races, Angels dragons and other flying entities keep these clouds to themselves.
The Starcatcher: A huge floating Continent orbiting Aperya, no one knows what's truly up there as something is protecting it from the species of Aperya, but apparently it was made by the gods to keep something safe… People say Astras live up there, others say it has weird geometrical green spiral shapes with a gate to somewhere outside Aperya, No one knows for certain.
The Nexus: An alternate dimension, a subplane made out of Blank white cubic geometric shapes, it is the natural leyline and powersource of all magic in Aperya, most people don't know of its existence and even fewer have actually been inside of the Nexus.
(Maps at a later date as well)
What are the Species?
Oh boy are there ALOT and this isn't the final list, I will add more and put it all in a whole document of every species in Aperya (and you can add your own if you want to be involved in the side stories of Aperya, there's enough room for a lot)
There are the Typical Humans, Elves, Dwarfs, Halflings, races like that, but the fancy stuff comes in when the colors mean something, as in Magic the Gathering, each of the 5 colors mean something, White, Blue, Black, Red, and Green, so most races will be categorized with those 5, humans and other base races are too varied and can be in all 5 colors to not be part of it.
White Aligned Species
Angels:
Typical white winged humanoids with halos, most of the time the halo acts like a necklace instead floating above their heads, but they can reposition the halo wherever they want it to be. “An Original Race” (this fact will be important for Magic Systems only)
Centaurs:
A solitary race of horse people, most are horses but there could be some deer, or elk variance, most hunt alone and are very chaotic or majestic depending on what one you find.
Avians
A race of bird folk, most have the feathers on their arms, but some also grow separated wings, they are very diverse between Anthro or more Humanlike, but they always can fly and light.
Blue Aligned Species
Astras:
A race of humanoid entities like angels and demons, but from outer space, they have black, blue or purple mist cloudlike wings and their body is usually more on the petite side, Where Angels have their Halos and Demons have their horns, they have two long hair strands made out of the same mist of their wings. “An Original Race”
Sphinxes:
A race of Typical Greek Sphinxes.
Merfolk:
A race of Humanoids with Shark or fishlike tails instead of legs, but they can be replaced to human-like legs with fish scales or shark skin when on land, their voice is like the mythical sirens.
Black Aligned Species
Demons:
More Succubus style of demon design than typical ones, slender human bodies with a long forked tail, and any style of horns you want, forked tongue as well. “An original Race”
Vampires:
Any humanoid being can be a vampire, as long as you're bitten by one of them, the only similar trait is all vampires have the same blood red eye color, and long fangs, they drink blood too. A singular bite can turn you, and if at night, the turning will be quick and painful, if it happens during the day, you slowly start to lose your mind until its night then the transformation begins.
Red Aligned Species
Phoenixes:
A race of Fire birds, that take the shapes of humans, they are very hot to touch, even in human form, and their resurrection only works by another phoenix reviving a dead one and only in 24 hours since that phoenix has died. “An original Race”
Dragons:
A race of dragons, typical solidary big 4 legged and 2 winged dragons exist, but most of them hide in a human like form, with scales, tail and horns, most dragons are dangerous to be close to unless they find you as one they like, then they are very protective.
Green Aligned Species
Lyceen: (if you know where this is from, good for you, and i also got express permission to permit them into this world)
An anthropomorphic wolf/fox/cat/dog and other animals of the same idea species, they stick together in family packs or ones with an Alpha, they don't care what subspecies you are, A Lyceen is a Lyceen. “An Original Race” (again don't get confused by this meaning I own it, I DO NOT OWN LYCEENS, the nice maker of them let me use them)
Foxen: (Now this IS a species I own and i'll take the rights too, same with Fennixes)
A direct Descendant of Lyceens, This species is 100% foxes though, and their more human like, they are a Human with Fox ears and Tail, sometimes fox-like legs, and fur on their wrists and ankles depending on how closely descended they are from Lyceens. They all can turn into a Foxform, aka a fox with the same fur color of the ears and tail, with the direct same eyes as the human form.
Fennix:
A hybridized race of Lyceens and Phoenixes. Usually Foxes or Wolves followed this species into its creation. They lost their original bloodline ties to both the Phoenix and Lyceen and are sheltered into the Cinder Haven, a small little island that populates Only Fennixes and other creatures of fiery descent.
How does the magic system work?
There are 3 specific magic systems in Aperya, that you could have access to.
Promises, Potientals, and Original Bloodline. (That's why the original race matters)
Promises: The most common magic, when the entity speaks a promise or vow to itself. Like ”I will not let criminals evade me!” would grant them movement or prison style magic. You can only have one Promise in your life, and you could put the promise in an object instead of yourself. Promises always have a downside weakness. If you promise on your weapon. The downside wouldn’t be as harsh as it is on the person. You must follow that promise to the best of your abilities, if you purposely won't follow it, the magic will become weaker, but can’t ever be fully gone.
Potientals: Another style of magic, this time given by the Nexus by completing the trial the Nexus creates for the individual. If you pass it or the Nexus sees you as worthy, it will grant you a style of magic that fits your personality. If you don’t or the Nexus sees you as unworthy, it won't grant you that magic, each entity can have one Potential.
Original Bloodline: a variety of magic completely different than Promises and Potientals, only these five races can use this magic “Angels, Astras, Demons, Lyceens, and Phoenixes” which use a sort of individual mana storage inside each one of those five species, where they can cast magic with that storage, and it will slowly regenerate, but if it reaches zero or negative, it will kill the caster, but amplify the magic casted.
That's it for this section of Worldbuilding, remember I will add your comments to the next one if you leave any!
