Katt Visits Dogg: Chapter 3
Katt vs. Dogg boks and characters by Jimmy Patterson and Chris Grabenstein
The bus Oscar was in entered Kattsburg and stopped in front of the Molly’s home. Oscar got off the bus.
“Thank you!”
“You’re welcome.” The driver said, then drove off.
Upon looking at the HIssletons’ house, some doubts started crawling into his mind like ants to leftovers. He was about to enter the house of his family’s former archrivals. What if they didn’t give him a friendly welcome? What if Molly’s father was still angry at Oscar for biting off the top of her ear and the tip of her tail (which he obviously didn’t)? Or what if Molly still remembered when he let his sister Fifi shout insults at her?
However, he just shook those doubts off and headed toward the entrance. Once he was in front at the door, he took a deep breath and said:
“Okay… here I go.”
He knocked at the door and waited. Then, Molly’s father opened the door and looked at Oscar.
“Oh, It’s you! Err…”
“Oscar, sir.”
“Right, Oscar! Please come in. We have been waiting for you. Oh, and please wipe your feet on the mat.”
Oscar wiped his feet on the mat and entered the house. Everything looked nice and clean. On the couch, Molly’s mother was sleeping, while Molly’s brother was glued to his favorite videogame gizmo, as always.
“Well, make yourself at home, Oscar.” Molly’s dad said.
Molly’s mom woke up.
“Oh, Oscar is already here?” she asked.
“Yes, Fluffy, dear.”
“You can rest anywhere you want, kid. And feel free to take snacks from our fridge.”
“Oh, yeah.” Blaze said. “And if you want to play some videogames, there are some in my room you can play. The console is under my TV.”
“Oh, thank you.” Oscar said.
“Molly is taking a bath.” Molly’s father said. “You can wait for her in her room.”
Oscar headed to Molly’s room. Everything looked pink and fancy, and on the walls hang posters of Molly’s favorite films, musicals and theatre plays. Suddenly, Oscar sniffed the air. He had caught a funny scent. When he looked down, he realized it came from Molly’s socks! Oscar couldn’t help it. He grabbed the socks and began to chew them. It made him feel comfortable and relaxed. Suddenly, he heard Molly’s voice.
“Oscar? Is that you?”
Quickly, Oscar looked for somewhere to hide Molly’s socks. He decided to hide them under her pillow.
“She won’t notice… I hope so.” Oscar thought to himself.
Then, Molly entered her room. When Oscar looked at her, his heart raced, his tail began to wag, he panted with his tongue drooling, and felt like if he had eaten butterflies. She was wearing a white shirt with a kitty face printing with wings and a halo, pink shorts and golden glittery slippers. Her bright blue eyes looked like a pair of crystal bowls full of fresh water under the sunshine.
“Sigh…” Oscar thought. “She’s so beautiful. Am I watching an angel?”
“Hi, Oscar!” Molly said. “How are you?”
“Couldn’t be better…” Oscar said.
“Um… are you ok?”
Oscar snapped out of it.
“Oh! Uh, yes! What about you?”
“Same!” Molly answered. “School is nice, and life has become more peaceful now that our families are united.”
“I know, right?” Oscar said. “After our last adventure, and the weddings of our cousins and grandpas, now every species in town get along.”
“Yes!” Molly said. “It’s amazing what we can achieve when two different species work together!”
“I’m so glad that we’re not enemies anymore.”
“Me too!”
Both sat on Molly’s bed.
Well, what do we do now?” Oscar asked her.
“I don’t know. What do you want to do?”
“Wanna play something?”
“Sure! But not tennis ball, since you’re the fastest runner on your team of said sport.”
Oscar blushed and scratched the back of his head.
“Yeah. It must be something that both katts and doggs can enjoy… Hey, wanna try a tickle fight?”
“Oh, sure! It’s the safest game I’ve heard of.”
“Good! Shall we find out which are our ticklish spots?”
The tickle fight began. Molly went for Oscar’s belly, which caused him to giggle and kick repeatedly. But Oscar knew all of her ticklish spots. After all, he had a Dogg Scout merit badge in kattology. He tickled her on the back. Molly purred and arched her back.
“No fair!” she said.
She pounced playfully on Oscar and tickled him behind his ears, which caused Oscar to pant and wag his tail rapidly.
“You like this, huh?” Molly asked.
“Yeah!” Oscar answered. “But it’s not that I’m a good loser! How about this?”
He tickled Molly’s chin, causing her to giggle. Then, Molly tickled Oscar’s neck, and he giggled, too. But he tickled her cheeks, and Molly fell on her back laughing. Her golden slippers accidentally flew off.
“Uh oh!” Oscar said. “Looks like I have found your most ticklish spot!”
Oscar stroke Molly’s feet with his finger, and Molly burst out laughing.
“Oscar, no!” Molly said, between laughter. “My feet are really ticklish!”
“I know!” Oscar said, duplicating the tickling.
Molly laughed harder and harder until she patted the bed.
“Okay, Oscar! You win, you win!”
“Yes!” Oscar said, and quitted tickling Molly. “Wowzers, Molly! I literally knocked your…”
Oscar was about to say “socks off”, but he feared Molly might find out about her chewed socks.
“… shoes off!”
“You sure did, Oscar!”
“I think we better now do something you enjoy.”
“Like which one?”
Oscar thought for a moment, and felt a little bad for winning at the tickle fight. So he wanted to do something to make it up for her.
“I know. You… can dress me up.”
“Really?” Molly asked.
“Yeah! Pick the fanciest suit for boys you have.”
“Okay.”
Molly headed to her closet and searched for boy clothes until she found a suit similar to the one of the protagonist of the movie Mittenic, portrayed by Lionardo DeKattprio. She decided to try it on Oscar. When she finished dressing Oscar, she sighed.
“You look lovely, Oscar!”
“You mean it?”
“Yes.”
Molly blushed as she said.
“Glad I made you happy, Molly.” Oscar said. “Well, what do we do now?”
“Well, Blade said that we can play with his console…”
“Oh, nice! I like playing videogames, especially the ones about chasing squirrels up trees and digging bones out!”
“Yeah… I don’t think we have those ones, but I’m pretty sure there’s something similar. Come on!”
The bus Oscar was in entered Kattsburg and stopped in front of the Molly’s home. Oscar got off the bus.
