Their story is based in the Serious Sam universe starring Rumeli, a reptiloid who managed to defect from Mental's forces and join humanity's fight for survival, and Maverick, an EDF member who was once saved by Rumeli's heroic actions and is now returning the favor by helping her both in and out of combat. Despite their radically different backgrounds, the two have dedicated themselves to defending Earth and all of its inhabitants from Mental's horde.
