Lazily and silently the owl glides through the snowfall, with only the occasional silent wing stroke to regain altitude. Thus, when he hears the ruffle of powerful wing strokes over the wind, it comes as some surprise, for they can not be his own. The source of this sound is not difficult to locate however, as he soon spots the glowing purple eyes of his friend frantically beating her wings to catch up with and climb up to his altitude. Looks like she has spotted him first this time. Was she waiting to ambush him on the ground? He Increases the camber of his wings to reduce his speed and dives down to make it easier for her to catch up, then has to speed up and beat his wings frequently as well when she reaches him, as her higher wing loading doesn't allow her to fly so slow.They glide together for a short while, taking in the sights of the wonderful decorative lights put up across the village below them through the torrent of thick fluffy snowflakes that zip past in a blur. Eventually Kira signs for them to pitch up and stall together, so they can briefly talk over the rushing wind.Instead of saying anything however, the lynx was apparently out for a 2nd attempt at ambushing the owl. She quickly tags the owls shoulder before darting away grinning.
This time Thieu is the one scrambling to catch up to her. They dart around after each other, inadvertently showing off a stunning display of aerobatics to any onlookers that happen to look up into the dark sky and notice the 2 playful flyers.When eventually they grow tired of their game, they glide close together again, Slowly coasting their way down to Kira’s home for some hot chocolate or tea and cuddles.This piece was made a while ago but it took us a long time to get around to uploading it. I absolutely adore this piece so much, Mak certainly went above and beyond with really putting so much fine detail into the background and bringing the whole scene to life! Even if it took quite a long time to get this posted, still better late than never, I’d say! It was a lovely experience to be able to get this dual commission done with ya, Thieu, and I’m always open to the possibility of getting another one done whenever you’re feeling up to it! Of course there is still the ‘spicier’ pair of works that we’ve got on the way to be posted in the near future… ;3
