Growlithe is his fav Pokemon and I added a Tatsugiri cuz I like them
(I also kinda imagine the Tatsu is manipulating the puppy into thinking they are best friends so that Tatsu has a big scary bodygaurd when it evolves, but Tatsu ends up really being friends in the end XD)
