Rubber-stamped fursuits...*giggles.*
Sorry, I got bored with FC because everyone who goes there thinks Latin Vixen fursuits are a status symbol. "Ooh, I've got my iPhone, my Audi TT, and my Latin Vixen...now I'm cool" seems to be the prevailing attitude. And each are manufactured on an assembly line too.
Anyway, I hope you had fun. It's still possible to enjoy if you can ignore the boring fursuiters and the fact that they're all basically the same. I think FC would be a lot better if it were a lot smaller. Perhaps one day we'll see another convention in the bay area.

They're not, but they are by another make who molds heads instead of carving the foam by hand.
Costumes are works of art, that's why they are expensive. They take a lot of work to make. But to cheapen them, both figuratively as well as literally, by resorting to a manufacturing process for the very shape of the costume takes away all aspects of artistic content. They are no longer works of art, they are no more than automobiles, and no more unique.
What bothers me most is that the head-carving process is the most laborious, and given that labor is the most significant aspect of the cost of a fursuit, and given that manufacturing process is solely to increase productivity and thus reduce cost; why are people paying MORE for these manufactured costumes? I wouldn't have as much of a problem with LV and other manufactured costumes if they were more reasonably priced to reflect the reduced labor. $500 is far, far more realistic than $2000.
But, I guess most people don't realize that these makers use molded heads. But I honestly doubt most people would care. Thus, why bother going to FC? At least at AC, people weren't stuck on the idea of manufactured status-symbol costumes. That was quite enjoyable. And Rainfurrest may be the most poorly put together convention I've been to, but at least most of the costumes there are homemade. It has a much better feel to it than the pretend feeling of the manufactured-costume crowds at FC.
