Kept all her life in illegal captivity, her journey to freedom begins when a minor Internet influencer coming along to a private party getting a bit excited at seeing the 'real life mermaid' on display. Unaware of the situation.
The images and videos spreading and in time reached people who recognized with concern the signs of a miskept siren, along with the fact they are not allowed to be kept in private displays legally.
Finally reaching authorities, the influencer was tracked down and once explained the issues with how this siren was being kept in illegal captivity, she gave up names and address where to find Lacey.
A raid was made on the property, seizing other endangered and protected sea creatures in the process, but first and foremost Lacey was claimed and transferred to a rehabilitation center to determine her chance of being set free into the ocean safely.
A hectic time of her life.
