The friendship between  whisperclaw and Marcello is very complicated. Marcello's instincts and excessive unhealthy general hatred for predator species often has him very frustrated with not her but himself with his own perspective on life in general. Whisper, although very reserved, tough, and standoffish herself, is just as much of an isolatinist in general, so the chances of the both of them becoming friends was practically zero.

However, reality is often stranger than fiction, their friendship budded into healthy bloom, and she has become the only carnivorous species he trusts completely. Their relationship is often comical, Whisper, although smaller in stature and size than Marcello can often bully and coerce him into what she wants due to his instinctive uneasiness around the canine and feline species, and she is a mix of both.
