So I've been feeling like I've needed a change of pace from the usual canine art, and while browsing the site the other day found lizard-socks and his tf art. I was interested in some of his character designs, finding that he made some actually kind of cute snail characters, and I decided I wanted to try drawing one of them.
I based it off of this piece of art: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28832653/
Brady was a kid who went to a magic school, and by accident became a salincomorph - a human who regularly has involuntarily transformations into a snail form. Though he's grown somewhat used to this transformation, his girlfriend Rajani, to his surprise, also is a salincomorph, but in complete denial of her own nature, believing that she's hallucinating.
For my rendition of his character, I wanted to add a lot of lighting, change some structure of the shell, and various other changes. Although lizard socks only has one drawing of a salincomorph with arms, I thought it would be a way to add interest to the character - it breaks up the plain sleeve of cloth their armless renditions wear, as well as in universe, I'd imagine would make things a little easier - I imagine these arms as having no rigidity, and no fingers on the hands.
It's not the type of species I usually draw, but I don't know, for some reason I've found a bit of interest in these interesting creatures.
