Reminding people up front: this one didn't actually get to the wg or wl :'(
Yeah, 3 pages in and I hadn't actually gotten to the swapping yet... you can probably see why I lost steam on this one. Hopefully you guys at least get a kick out of the concept I was going for here.
I think you can make it out already just from the sketches here but just in case:
STORY)
Finally in the early stages of building communication with the rest of China, the Panda village decided to form new traditions with other villages in order to form strong relations.
On top of already becoming something of a hub for its pioneering of chi, the village had began to develop further notoriety thanks to its newly developing form of kung fu, since Po had finally had similarly statured pupils to pass his style onto a further develop it with.
And so, for it's new tradition the village had decided on an annual festivity. The finest up and coming warriors of other villages would be offered an all expenses covered stay in the village to receive tutelage in their martial art, the best tutelage they could give out as the dragon warrior himself would take on the responsibility of being their main instructor.
To ensure their first ever attempt at this new tradition would be a success it made sense for the village to offer it's hand to a fighter from the Valley of Peace: the village which they already had the best relations with. Not to mention those at the Jade Palace had been Po's own peers. Master Tigress easily seemed to be the best choice. On top of the fact she was the most skilled of the group her anatomy was closest to a pandas own.
Po excitedly volunteered his friend on her behalf, thinking nothing of it as he failed to ask her for her input before pitching her name in the town meeting... and failed again to notify her after he'd done so.
Around a week later, Po returned with Tigress, having retrieved her from the Valley. Still, Tigress had no idea what was about to be thrust upon her. She was caught off guard as, shortly after their arrival, Po pulled her up onto a stage. He giddily announced the commencing of their new ritual, and reminded the crowd of the details. Confused, but not wanting to spoil the endless merriment of the pandas, Tigress pointed out in as soft a sentence as she could form that there was an obvious logistical problem with HER attempting most of their techniques. Although her tone still belied her bafflement. Po'd never attempted to teach her any of his more 'unorthodox' techniques before. She had thought he'd already understood this.
Po waived her concerns away. Tigress was completely blindsided as he merrily explained to her and restated to the audience that the village would be happy to supply as much food as needed for Tigress to attain the 'proper physique' for the style. Tigress was flustered, but more so enraged. Enraged that Po just completely put her on the spot in such a manner, but more so enraged that he'd even suggest such a thing. No longer concerned with her etiquette, Tigress opened her maw to shut the idea down as fast as she possibly could... before relocking eyes with Lei Lei. Who innocently used the space after Po finished speaking and before Tigress could begin protesting to explain how excited she was that Tigress had agreed to this.
It was obvious why the young panda would want her to be the volunteer. Still, Tigress tried to force the defiance up and out of her throat, but she didn't have the strength to get it there with her little protege looking at her like that.
She folded.
Yet Lei Lei had not managed to quell the tigers rage completely. In fact, as she realized she was actually going to go through with this Tigress only got angrier. That anger allowed her to quickly and creatively add in her expected statement following Po's introduction, that while she had agreed to the arrangement Po would too be undergoing a transformation. She dug her claws into the peak of the pandas billowing belly and jiggled it for emphasis as she stated whilst she would be expanding in order to learn the panda style from him, Po would be diminishing in order to learn the tiger style from her. Making the tradition something more along the lines of a cultural exchange.
Po's shock and dread had been more apparent than Tigress' own.
