A wood engraving depicting the (in)famous Vulphead mercenary, during his brief service to the warring Florinthian dukes. Among all the warriors who served in those bloody conflicts, he alone could boast of never having been on the losing side of a battle.
Though he could not match a Wolperting or a Bluddum in strength or fighting prowess, his quick wits and even quicker feet always kept him out of the losing side in any fight. In one particularly drawn out battle, he is said to have switched sides at least seventeen times over the course of an afternoon.
Though he (dubiously) claimed to have studied with the famed swordmaster Uschan deLucca himself, his prowess with the sword was always described as mediocre at best, and he always claimed that his true passion was writing. After his service in the Florinthian war, the aspiring warrior-poet hoped to replicate his success on the battlefield of book publishing.
Unfortunately none of his writings survive to this day as, in a particularly scathing review, he was burned alive on a pyre of his own books by a mob of furious book critics in Bookholm.
