"animal heads with disturbingly human expressions," indeed... interesting how this writer homed in on a psychological reaction that wouldn't have a name until several decades later. It's from a book of architectural criticism I came across published in the 1960's; the guy she's talking about would've been the perfect architect for the Funhouse!
(I love the categories I used for this one: "Other - Miscellaneous - Unspecific/any - Any;" about covers any/everything, doesn't it?)

Well if you think about it. TFs and Anthros have just recently become popular. But when you look at this entry in this book, mythology, and stories in the past. It was like history is littered with stories of gods turning people into animals, and half human and half animal creatures. And that made me think of 2 things. 1, that maybe there were anthro and tf fans way back in the day. Or 2 that there was actually anthros and people tfed in the past
