Having seen many of the places like this I used to visit be torn down I can empathize deeply.
The Magic Mountain near me is just a pit in the ground now. It always makes me sad to see places fall into disrepair, but I know it's part of the cycle. It's just that buildings and architecture seem like they should be more permanent than less than a generation.

There's a mournful thing about neglected and abandoned places. Buildings reflecting ambitions and hopes from another time. How the surrounding area shifts and changes with culture often moving forward where these places are left to stagnate. Memories are the only things that inhabit these structures now. And even those are quiet and faded.
For me the saddest landmark for me died not because of neglect, but was rather born from it. Behind our friends house was an empty lot we could jump into and eff around in. Then whoever actually owned that property decided to finally do something with the land. I lost a couple friends that day when we all learned our wonderland had died.
