Let me emphasize the luck aspect. You could go to one network event after another and come up with nothing while a friend finds something during their first attempt. Consider learning about the role of networking within your industry of interest and make a plan as to the amount you want to engage in. There is too much networking... sometimes it is better to just apply to job postings.
This tip focuses on networking for entry-level positions. Networking has a different meaning for those who are mid-career or beyond. At that point it is about reputation, notoriety, and the subtlety of letting people know you are looking for new opportunities.
Why are you posting on a Wednesday?!
I will be attending Motor City Furry Con over the weekend (located near Ann Arbor, MI). I doubt I will have time to post this on Friday, so here it is. Feel free to message me if you are attending. I would love to connect with fursons!

I also think theres an easily findable limit to how actually useful it is to start networking compulsively. Like i just applied to a media operations assistant role at a major company. If i start trying to add every head from this sector or company industry on linkedin, it’ll be weird.
I have a friend who is a writer who has been trying to make it in LA. He has spent an incredible amount of time at networking events and lunches. Sure, he has gotten some great advise and a few meetings did turn up, but what he needed to do was to keep building his writing portfolio. He has since moved on from the LA networking scene and he feels like he is more productive.
