A bit of backstory: Javier is a bat who loves coffee, not just drinking it, but crafting his own coffee and flavors that many wouldn't believe could work out. At the age of 13 is when his father first allowed him to experience having coffee, and that was the most enjoyable day of his life. Since then, Javier has always tried adding something new to his coffee. Different creamers, seasoning, coffee beans, and grounds. He enjoyed the challenge of finding the right combination that blended well together. His father helped him by getting different types of coffee and helping him taste-test things where he could. When Javier was old enough, he started work at a coffee shop so he can learn and experience the different types of coffees he could.

By the time Javier finishes college with a degree in business, he decided that he should make his own business. He wanted to have his own coffee shop, one that had different types of coffee options from around the world, of course, this isn't an easy task. Thanks to the help of his parents and his savings working at a coffee shop, it provided him some money to go overseas to Europe for a while. He started to explore different locations and find different flavors of beans and other ingredients. Of course, traveling around for Javier had other effects. He really enjoyed seeing all the different cultures and history as he traveled around Europe.

When he arrives in Transylvania, he comes to one of the towns nearest Bran's Castle. It's here that Javier bumps into an unlikely person. He meets Vincent, the owner of the castle and a known vampire among the people of Transylvania. In many ways, Vincent is the ruler of Transylvania. Vincent along with Michael talks to Javier and get to know him, Vincent is surprised by Javier speaking passionately about his goal to make unique coffee and own his own coffee shop. It reminded Vincent a lot of himself when he was young and passionate about his life goals before he gave up on them for being a vampire. Vincent considers a few things about Javier's passion and offers him a place in his castle. He offers to provide financial support for the business that Javier wants to do along with helping him establish a network around other countries to send coffee that he makes. It helps that Vincent enjoyed the unique blend of coffee that Javier gave him to try. In return, Vincent asks Javier to set up a shop in town so his people can enjoy the wonders of coffee here and its unique tastes. Javier accepts the offer with a big smile, his dream can finally start. Vincent would enjoy another interesting thing, he finds Javier to be a good talker and listener. He enjoys their conversations and hanging out with one another.

It's later that Vincent and Michael explain what they are and the people they live with. Surprisingly to Vincent, he found out that Javier has the talent to learn magic and use it. Vincent helps Javier harness and control the magical gift, teaching him the words and ways to cast spells. Thanks to this and the continuous training, Javier is able to use fire and water magic. Something he was happy for as these could be used for doing coffee-related things.
