That IS a good question!

I figured since he's black and white he can't create something that's in colour, including speech bubbles. I would say since thought bubbles would be visible, his thoughts aren't in colour, so dreams wouldn't be either?

I just thought it would be funny if he sees everything in B&W and thinks in B&W, but then at night in his dreams he has these visions of magical worlds full of colour.
