I walked through a wild area for over an hour, and came out into an apartment complex, where I found an elderly couple playing horseshoes. We spoke for a while, then saw this guy in the lake.

My apartment complex has a lake just like this one, only bigger. We also have our own gator, though I never see it. I think the noise of the horseshoes attracted this curious little guy.

He's a baby, about as long as I am tall. I was less than five feet away, snapping with my phone camera. I photoshopped this image for clarity.
