Ex-Southern Railway (still sublettered "SOU") high-hood GP38-2 #5187 and fellow low-nose Geep #3069 idle in Norfolk Southern's Burns Harbor, Indiana yard, on the southern end of Lake Michigan- the lake effect weather meant lots of snow in northern Indiana!

NS only relatively recently started buying new locomotives with wide cabs. They even own Dash-9s with standard cabs- the only railroad to own them built that way, and after awhile, GE just refused to build any more standard cabs! NS got several SD50s rebuilt by Progress Rail into PR43C's only last year, and even those have standard cabs!
