Sofox has been working on a short animation for some time now, and needed some kind of soundtrack for it. So I figured I'd give it a try.
I have literally no idea what a drone transformation sequence should sound like, so I went for something along the lines of System Shock and I think it came out pretty well. The transformation part fell in place quickly and easily, though it took a few attempts to get the first two music cues to sound appropriate.

Synthesizers used:
Moog Voyager (opening bass sound)
Korg M1R (vibes)
Korg N1R (lead, pad and sparklies for the second section)
Volca FM (DX7 bass for parts 2 and 3)
Alesis DM10 drum brain (Evil Drums)
Roland M-VS1 (hihats)
DSI OB6 (Gravitron)
Oberheim OB-X8 (Filter sweeps)
Behringer VC340 (vocoder choir)
Korg Triton (Industrial loop at start and beeps)
The music was tracked on 2" tape and mixed to 1/4" stereo, which is probably overkill but who cares?
