Here's my submission to the recent furry musicians contest! It is a dystopian and aggressive (modern) Drum n Bass track.
A while back I entered the Cyberpunk 2077 song contest and though I didn't win nor expect to win it showed me the creative value of joining in music jams and contests, it keeps my skills sharp and helps me learn to meet deadlines and as any other musicians likely know, actually finish an idea.
So about the track itself, it's broadly speaking 'cyberpunk music' in its synthetic and dystopian sound but rather than being synthwave or ambient, it's a modern Drum & Bass track. I originally started writing a piece called 'Basics' as in me going 'back to basics' that would return to a more classic style but as soon as I started making this piece and liked it much more and changed priority.
The development of this piece was spotty, all the bulk work was done in a few days around the 14th of March ish and I thought I could get it polished to a shine and submitted by like the 18th but my creativity dried up, which was quite painful for any creator. I even wanted to rework it and add vocals but that didn't pan out. I did end up happy with the track all the same, especially with a last minute mastering and drum volume pass.
What other facts are there to say... I think the name 'Penta' is because the early lyric draft had "pent up" but the very earliest WIPs were already called that so I'm not sure. The bass is Harmor, there's probably some Image-Line FLEX because it's easy. There's some guitar rig because some of my recent tracks have had electronic metal type stuff going on so of course it snuck its way into other projects.
Maybe I'll edit this if I have further commentary on the creative process.
Special thanks to my partner and roommate
silvrbinary for urging me forward and wanting to test listen even the smallest changes. Thanks to Wolfgun for his chilled artist-centric attitude prompting me not to uproot the track or give up but to enjoy my own style and just let the piece go where it 'wants' to go.

Here is a Google Drive link for those interested that contains WIPs, WAV version and also a FL zip project folder. Bare in mind the zip project is just some extra love and does require FL Studio, Harmor and Guitar Rig 5 to open.

I used some third party samples so please do not locally save them, just on a legal basis because I don't own their rights. I myself am in favour of open source and assets hence me including the project at all.
Per the contest rules I have scrubbed my music alias from files bounced out and am ONLY linking the track and the Drive folder from this very page. The submission is this page, anything else is just bonus for any musicians or contest judges curious about the process and track evolution!
I've taken to keeping WIP renders of every major track, it's nice to see how things evolve and it can be quaint to go back to what I call the 'sketch' phase.
