I did almost same illustration 2 years ago, but I like this redraw better, despite less detail ^^

As reader of the book series, it's kinda cool that Kong himself it's one of the rare characters that make an appearence on more than one book. In my opinion, author's restrictions on this was a bit a sad point (like ... almost no reference to the past adventures in each new book etc.)
Oh, besides the original book, I read only "Das Duell" (for some reason, only 1 and 4 novels were officially published in Russian), where both Kong and Bluebeard appear, so when someone told me that old characters almost do not appear in the sequels (in addition to Francis and Gustav), I was surprised and upset((
At the moment I'm translating the second book for a small Russian-speaking fanclub and I already miss many of the cats from the first one :"3

Oh interesting! Eh I suppose it was.. me? Having worked on the Felidae wikia it's one of the things that caught me immediately. In final books there are some recurring characters: essentially Bluebeard, Junior and Sancta.
But generally speaking others like Kong and other survivors of the different books (including at least a pair of very interesting characters) got missing.
But most important, the author had this bad habits to never directly reference the EVENTS of the past adventures! I mean, it's stated that Francis did past investigating, but never much in details as Francis thinking-back of previous villains.
Anyway, very glad there is still a small community in Russia! Sometimes i stumble upon interested people while frequenting Warriors fans hehe
My big hope it's that the author after all his controversial issues will make at least another book at least to recover some financial losses. Sometimes i peep at his facebook and sporadically he upload pics of cats so one may guess he never truly forgot of Felidae, even if it's some years by now that he wrote the last book.
PS: related to your other comment of Nhozemphtekh's art... have you seen the Felidae official comic? That one follows mostly the movie's style, but interestingly take a different approach for Nhoz.
PPS: again unrelated, and not sure if i already told you, but for fans of felines and dark/mature themes within these stories, i can totally suggest the "Named" series of Clare Bell. Pre-historic fantasy cheetah-like sentient felines, there is plenty of gruesome fighting and some mature theme (mating etc.) even if retain some solid likelable characters and a less-depressive thone of Felidae
