Breaking my usual posting schedule to post something totally different--a photo of a Road Ends sign at the start of the walking trail I visit sometimes.
Nice gloomy aesthetic. Taken March 31 2023, gloomy rainy day but decent temperature and the rain stopped long enough for me to get some exercise.
Took this photo both to test the camera on my new phone, and to show some friends some pics from the area--I took a lot of fairly boring, unskilled general shots of the area, but this actually seems aesthetically pleasing enough to post to my art galleries.
Additionally, a friend of mine had recently offered me a few photos from his own nature walks to use as backgrounds in my art, so I thought I should maybe try to get a few pics from my own area to work with as well.
This also serves as evidence that I do, in fact, exist in meatspace in a physical form.
If there's any interest, I might post more photos here and there, hopefully once all the plants and fungi come back to life I can get some good pics of trees, flowers, mushrooms and whatnot.

The quality is pretty good, it's amazing that one could take such detailed pictures with a phone camera nowadays. I remember when all I could get was blurry and unfocused ones, unless the target stood about 3-5 meters away tops.
Sure, I'd be interested in seeing more nature oriented photos! Especially as they fully bloom.

Thanks! I don't fully understand camera specs or all the settings yet, I'm sure once I actually take the time to learn to use it properly (and find some interesting subject matter) I could get some better shots. My previous phone cameras, if they even *had* cameras (yes, I'm that old, I legit owned one of the indestructable Nokia bricks back in high school!) were never anything remarkable, but this new phone has a 50 megapixel camera apparently!
Unfortunately, most of the photos I took, aside from not being super interesting, were also quite dreary but not in an artistic or aesthetically pleasing way--but at least my friends know that I'm not making stuff up when I tell them how long my walks were, thanks to taking some pics of mile markers painted on the trail!
That said, I'm definitely looking forward to when the plants and mushrooms wake up and the animals are more active, and will definitely start mixing in any good shots I get. Gives me another excuse to go out more, at least!

Thanks! I will definitely post more if I get some good shots, especially once the trees and mushrooms wake up. I'd love to also get some good shots from around my area and clumsily stick my charactetrs into them. I'd love to get a shot of a deer crossing sign and draw Buck pole-dancing on it, or at the very least get a nice shot of the trail and draw Skunk Boy and Tex walking together.
Thanks! I'm still waiting for the plants and fungi to wake up, all the trees being bare makes for some okay "desolate" shots, but nothing I really find aesthetically pleasing enough to post.
I may also need to find some new locations to visit, this sign is within easy walking distance from my house, and at an access point for a nice walking trail, but not a lot changes along said trail...

Thanks to KDOT's general laziness, there's a number of these types of things where I live. Where there used to be a road, but it's since gotten cut in half (often, so they don't have to build an overpass). Or, the occasional time they started to make a road, and decided to take another route. But, the remains of the roads are still there, so they put up a barrier and sign like this. Cause people are generally stupid, and before they started doing this, people were actually driving off the ends of the dead end roads.
I get the feeling that's a fairly universal thing, I know of a lot of similar situations in my area.
This one is an interesting case, as in the distant past, this road actually connected to a bridge that was removed--there used to be road beyond this point that was torn up at some point, and I wandered out into the woods and was able to find the old footing of the bridge. However, the only photo I took isn't exactly worth posting to any of my galleries.
I'd like to head back there again once spring is well underway, or in early summer, when the ground is a bit more dry and there are some leaves on the trees, and it's just generally more aesthetically pleasing.
Edited to fix photo link.

Let's try linking the remnants of the bridge again since the link I provided yesterday 404's for some reason (I'm still trying to get the hang of Google Photos, never had any reason to mess with it before I got a phone with a camera worth using).
