Oh yeah. I saw a cover of a Popular Mechanics issue from the late 40s or 50s which showed a smaller military seaplane (a Grumman Duck, I think) tricked out as an RV.

I have always loved these. Back in WW2, a squadron operated on the river just near my current place. The local air museum still has one. (there was also a Short Suderland squadron further down the estuary. Those were real beasts!)

I've seen pictures of the Sunderland, and yeah that thing was huge. If I recall, the Germans called it the Flying Porcupine from the number of weapons it could carry.
