So, with the voting coming to a close, I feel a bit more comfortable drawing my own characters again. So I thought it would be appropriate to try give an example of what I at least intend to do with the winning characters. As I said in my journal, I want to try posting more submissions that reveal more about the characters than just weight gain sequences or pin ups.
I actually went about making the background in this picture before adding in Alexis this time. To do this I went online and looked at various photographs, drawings, and paintings of desert themed scenery and used that to try to understand how to better create rock and sand textures. From there I created my own setting. It took a better part of the afternoon and evening, but I feel pretty good about the results.
Either way, I hope you all enjoy it.

farx and
vdisco for tips throughout.
Also, as a side note for any of you that frequent my gallery, if there have been any of my characters that you have been interested in seeing or knowing more about, please visit my newest journal for more information. ( http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2038279/ ). The more people that participate and vote in the journal the better I can understand what my watchers would like to see from me.
Voting ends 1/28/11 12pm Central Standard Time.

It was at that very moment that Alexis began to question the mapmaker's title of "world-famous cartographer".
Ah, its a shame that Alexis didn't make it into the top three; she was going to be my fourth pick had there been more room! About the pic, though, DAMN! I didn't know that you could draw a background that well! I second Light-Mason's comment; I'd definately buy this if it were in a graphic novel or comic book!

Yeah, though at least she brought the map this time.
And agreed. Though someone has to come in last I suppose. But glad you like how it came out. I'd like to work with backgrounds more, but I've found the more elaborate the background, the less people here are interested in the submission. While I do plan to continue doing what I desire to draw as an artist, it can be discouraging at times.

I've thought about that and I'm not quite sure where I stand on the issue. I'm probably going to say yes just because it will keep things from getting needlessly complicated. Either way her story is mostly in warm environments regardless, so it could work for whichever case.
