meanwhile, twenty weeks later ... (Why yes, I do enjoy repeating these stupid and annoying jokes ad nauseam)
Anyway, while Saria's little meeting on the Cadmos (RSC 3, dubbed 'the loo' by it's crew) continues we return to the Verdant where a shocking mystery is about to be unveiled.
As it's been a long while since we've last seen these characters, here's a little refresher:
Private Hendrickx: last seen on page 9, getting a special assignment by Captain Adams.
Gero: last seen on page 8, the angry black guy with some serious contempt for the chain of command.
Lieutenant Bilski: last seen on page 5, wearing the green vest (green = lieutenant, blue = captain). He managed to make himself completely invisible in the Fueller debacle
A little note on the design of the Verdant:
It doesn't look like it would be very good at flying. And actually it isn't: the Verdant is the largest of three experiments to build transportable battle stations. They've got nearly as much firepower as their cousins stuck in planetary orbit, are capable of interplanetary travel and even come equipped with FTL drives.
