As many people have already said, LOVE those dreads. :D I can't imagine how long those must have taken. I've made a few dread falls for myself using the same twisting method and even a small pair takes quite some time! Props to you.

They definitely took a while.. I eventually started using a dremel to wind them up which make the actual twisting go *much* faster

I can't believe I've never thought to do that. x3 I use my dremel all the time to coil wire for chainmail. It's brilliant! You've just saved me countless hours of hand twisting. Thanks a bunch! (=

I remember seeing this suit at RBW also.
I remember having a look at the head and it was really heavy because of all those dreads!.
very cool though and the random sparkly bits where good.

Would you mind if I picked your brain on how you made the strands and if the whole thing weighed the head back/down and made it heavy?

They were all individually hand twisted from yarn and yup it did weigh a bit. Not unwearable by any means but something similar to a head with costume antlers on it.

So glad I'm getting her.

I had a question about the dreads; once twisted, do you do anything to treat them so that they won't unravel on you? I may need to make a shorter tail for her so that it doesn't drag on the ground. And, did you use real wool yarn or is it acrylic or something else?

They are just tied so if you cut them off, tie them and then cut under the knot. They are double twisted so as long as you hold onto all the ends they will not untwist. I am not sure what the yarn is.
