Raliks was a cowardly House of Winter loyalist that abandoned the house during the Wolves uprising after his mate, a former honor guard for the House Winter Kell Draksis, was killed by Skolas as an example for the others to fall in line.
Raliks fled to into the Ishtar Collective colony on Venus, eventually pushed into hiding deeper and deeper within the ruins as guardian and Vex activity increased.
He eventually stumbled into an experimental prison deep within the Ishtar Collective and was captured by the automated systems. Imprisoned and interrogated by the prison rehabilitation AI, it pressed Raliks with interrogation until he ultimately confessed his many crimes, earning an indefinite sentence, a padded cell, and a straitjacket fabricated for his very much non-human form.
Raliks would spend the next 8 years locked up there, first proving resistant to the rehabiliation as he constantly made escape attempts. His resistance soon turned into desperation, sick of the artificial ether being fed to him and longing for the surface. Then finally... he became accepting of his newfound life, finally opening himself up to the efforts by the AI as he made peace with the many wrongs he had committed against his fellow Eliksni in order to survive.
He would finally be released nearly 8 years to the day of his initial imprisonment. Though denied his weapons and armor still, he made do with what he had. He'd encounter a group of Eliksni hailing from an unknown house known as House Dusk back on the surface of Venus, the Eliksni, though initially put off by the strange canvas jacket Raliks was wearing, would explain they were heading to the last city of humanity, as many were taking refuge there now. Raliks was concerned, but realized that perhaps his time with the human-made AI was meant to prepare him for this. He had learned nearly perfect English from the AI, and understood how humans thought. Believing it to be fate, Raliks joined the entourage to the last city.
Season of the Splicer
Raliks kept a low profile, worried former House Winter, or even House Wolves, veterans may recognize him and seek retribution against him for his abandoning both houses. He stuck to helping get Eliksni quarter operations working, avoiding most others and not seeking any lasting relationships.
Season of the Lost
Raliks first met the Scribe of House Light, Eido, during this time, the two kindling a small friendship as Raliks assisted her in the telling of stories to the Eliksni children. He also helped her with her research, assisting in negotiations between her and the city cryptarchs for valuable materials, his understanding of human psychology and their language proving invaluable.
Season of the Risen
Raliks' growing friendship with Eido finally caught the attention of her father, the Kell of House Light, Mithrax.
Mithrax confronted Raliks, more than familiar with his reputation as a coward, a backstabber, and even at times, a murderer. Raliks, though, swears of his reformed self, promising he has long since changed his ways. When asked what could have led to such a change, Raliks takes a moment to think. The prison was his original thought, but then he realizes it had been something else entirely. He finally answers back, stating love.
Believing that Raliks was referring to love for Eido, Mithrax became enraged, snapping that Raliks is a fool for expecting him to believe that. Realizing the misunderstanding, Raliks quickly clarifies that the love he speaks of was that which he held for his deceased mate. His name was Yvaks, and at first he had just been the latest in a long line of dead captains that Raliks had served under. His reputation had preceded him though, and Yvaks showed a stronger hand than the others when dealing with Raliks. Yvaks taught him the finer points of marksmanship, maintenance, dance, and even cooking. His loss had weighed heavily on Raliks, enough that he could no longer bear the company of other Eliksni as he had grown resentful of their infighting, and tired of his struggle to survive. Which was why he was so grateful to be a part of House Light now. Everything he had hated of his own kind was absent here.
Satisfied with the answer, but not wholly convinced of Raliks' reformed state, Mithrax leaves him be for now, but ensures Raliks gets more work that puts him further away from Eido. Still, Raliks finds the time to see her on occasion in spite of the increased workload.
Season of the Haunted
With the return of the Leviathan and the rise of nightmares, Raliks embarks on his first combat assignment since his days with House Winter, assisting the joint coalition force of Caiatl's cabal and House Light splicers dispatched to the Leviathan. It is during this time that Raliks begins working with two very strange and unorthodox Guardians simply known as Nom and Shade.
Although Raliks successfully helps the Guardians repel Calus, he is nearly broken by a nightmare of his deceased mate, fleeing rather than facing its accusations of leaving him for dead at the hands of the wolves.
Season of the Plunder
Shaken by the nightmare of his mate, Raliks stays closer to the familiar, growing closer to Eido as he begins working alongside Spider's crew to track down the relics of Nezarec. Still not onboard with the relationship, Mithrax has Raliks put under Spider's watch to keep him busy. Spider, finding the young and barely battle scarred Eliksni quite a looker, does exactly as Mithrax requests. Raliks is put to work servicing captain's tavern onboard Spider's Ketch. Both as a barkeep... and as an object to entertain the lecherous desires of the Eliksni there.
(Drifter is aware of this after walking in on such servicing in progress. Much to Raliks' annoyance, the rat man has begun bidding him farewell with "Keep it tight, Skitter Sprint". Raliks makes regular glimmer bribes to shut him up.)
Despite this, Raliks still makes regular visits with Eido, enjoying her company and taking an interest in her research.
As their treasure hunt grows to a close, and after hearing of Eido's near demise at the hands of the Lucent Hive in her attempt to prove herself to her father, Raliks refuses to wait any longer. His enjoyment of Eido's company had grown beyond simple friendship, and he finally confesses his feelings to her, asking for her courtship. Surprised, but not opposed, Eido takes Raliks to Mithrax so he may formally ask permission of the Kell. Though still mistrustful, Mithrax recognizes Raliks' dedication to House Light and relents, allowing the two to court.
Season of the Seraph
Finally earning some much needed rest after his efforts onboard the Leviathan and with fighting the old crews, while the Guardians rush around trying to recompile Rasputin, Raliks takes a more personal trip.
With Amanda's help, Raliks learns to fly a Skiff, outfitting it with a jump drive. Now able to fly himself, Raliks departs for Europa, beginning an investigation of the strange power he had heard rumors of Eliksni wielding there. While there, Raliks meets a very strange individual. A Vex unit, formerly a guardian of the cryptarchy that had undergone the transformation into a large Minotaur like unit due to too many trips into the Black Garden. She offers Raliks the chance to learn the powers he seeks for himself, creating a simulation of the war the Guardians had fought against Eramis. Raliks enters the Vex simulation learning in the process how to wield Stasis. Building a diagnostics shank in the likeness of a ghost to further the illusion he was a guardian, Raliks returns to Venus to transfer the rehabilitation AI he was once captive to into the Shank.
Bidding a proper farewell to his old life on Venus, Raliks returns to the last city, using the AI to help better facilitate relationships between the Eliksni and humanity.
Now an adept wielder of Stasis, Raliks takes a more active role in assisting the guardians, working with Nom and Shade to stop a Vex incursion at a Warmind facility on Mars while also embarking on more simulations with the Vex unit's help to hone his abilities.
Raliks ultimately joined guardians Nom and Shade again when the call went out of the impending Abhorrent Imperative activation by Eramis, whose understanding of Stasis far outclassed his own as he was unable to help the guardians overpower her. Racing to the control room, Raliks was onboard the station to witness the Traveler leave...
Spending the last few nights he could with Eido as the black fleet drew closer to do battle with the orbiting Traveler, Raliks told her of his desire to join the defense, tired of running. Though worried, she supported him in his decision.
Mithrax had grown proud of Raliks and how far he had come since the days of his time with House Winter on Venus, and finally putting his prejudice aside, gifted Raliks with a Queenbreaker rifle, knowing him to be a good marksman.
Lightfall
Raliks ended up joining guardians Nom and Shade as they journeyed to Neptune to do battle with Calus and the Shadow Legion. He more than proved himself in combat with his newfound mastery of Stasis, and became an even deadlier combatant after learning to master Strand alongside his two guardian companions, though at a much slower pace after witnessing how easily one could lose control of it and be unraveled themselves. But while on Neomuna, Raliks was once again plagued with nightmares of his former mate, the visions made worse by entering the Vex network...
Ultimately, Raliks was there at the end of the journey, and at the defeat faced there...
Disheartened and plagued by nightmares of his dead mate, when word came out of a Vanguard initiative to eliminate the nightmares at their source, Raliks was more than willing to join them.
Battling through the pyramid and plagued every step of the way by visions, Raliks inevitably met the source of the nightmares. A disciple of the Witness.
Raliks and the guardians engaged the disciple, Raliks doing what he could to avoid death even as his guardian allies fell all around him. As the disciple reached his final stand, he cleaved through the guardians with ease, killing them and gravely wounding Raliks. Too determined to finish the job though, the disciple hadn't realized the extent of their own wounds, soon succumbing to them as they died at last, Raliks' nightmare of his mate disappearing.
With the threat neutralized, Raliks was rushed back to the Eliksni quarter for treatment. Celebrated as a hero, Raliks would fall asleep in his recovery bed with Eido at his side, finally at peace with the loss of his mate as he was now determined to make a better future for himself and his new Eliksni family.
Caiatl would call Raliks before her, honoring the Eliksni for his bravery shown during the last stand to prevent Calus from reaching the veil, and for helping to give her father a warrior's death. Where will this newfound ally lead Raliks? And what is next for the Eliksni darkbearer? Stay tuned...
Always wanted my own Eliksni OC, and now I have one!
Raliks the Cavorter. I hope to expand upon his story here down the line.
