it is pretty terrifying... Most games I generally just run through pretty recklessly because I want to get through it as quick as possible because I want to see the rest of the story line.

This Game? Shit No! I go through pretty much the whole thing aiming down my sights and walking very slowly every step of the way.

 zappmaliss has already played through it 6 times on Nightmare (or whatever the hardest level of difficulty is). And got all the achievements.

I love the game, I've put 50 hours into dead space 1 and 2, and I've beat the first on impossible difficulty, I honestly do not see how so many people vomit at the thought of playing the game, I guess that's just me. BUT the stalkers in dead space 2 bring my heart rate to dangerous levels.

i've recently gotten that game, but my computer won't run it! :( i have to wait till i get a better system (don't have a ps3 or 360)

Probably your graphics card, my desktop wouldn't run jack shit because of that shitty little standard graphics card from hell that HP puts into their computers. Then a couple of years ago when I bought an actual graphics card from a friend. Now it runs pretty almost everything on high/ultra settings :P

lol well it's becouse i have an integrated graphics card......and a laptop.....got no place to put a desktop and no internet at home to connect to.

My boyfriend opened the window behind me while I was playing DS2 this very evening, and I squawked so loudly I scared the cat. Damn boyfriends need to RESPECT when we're trying to disembody necromorphs!!!

Hm, you might want to switch to DS2........I never finished DS1 since it got too insanely difficult, but I'm having no problems with DS2 (on easy mode, of course, lol).

I also find DS2 is more apt to 'disturbing' than '40 minutes of creepy noises before something flies out and runs shrieking right at your face.' I've been terrified, of course, but I haven't actually peed on the carpet, which is more than I can say for the first game. :3 Woof.

Also "Extraction" is all the storyline with none of the pants-shitting terror. It's bundled with DS2 on the Move, or you can do what I do and get it for $15 used at GameStop for the Wii. :)

Yeah, I know all about Extraction, and most all the story line, I've looked into all of it. which is why I enjoy it so much, because I actually understand it.
And I didn't realize it before, but it is long periods of noises before encounters. thats whats scary, you know its coming, sometimes you don't know when, and other times its just predictable. you wouldn't believe how much ammo I got in the beginning on Medium before I encountered something else.

I was playing last night since my friend insisted so much on it. and I got to the chapter with the thing poising Hydroponics and you have to go back to the medical area again, he made me go down one of the lone hallways with the medical beds, and showed me the woman that was sobbing/laughing over the bed at the end, and how the body near the table and the sobbing woman looked the same, and the sobbing womans Rig is all empty and dead like... kindda creepy...

sorry pal, but he's right: you GOTTA go through the first to get well on the second. For instance, do you fully understand Unitology? Also, the plot makes the 1st one worth going till the end. If you don't want to play it, there's the walkthroughs on YouTube.

Scared at this game? LOL. it is creepy and sometimes gives you a fright, but still no big deal, really! Unless you play late at night, in a huge tv with home theather sound system. o.o I say cause I did it once, my cousin has a xbox and the game, was first time I tried it. Went till ch.2 there, then downloaded the PC version to go till the end at home. Way better on tv, though :/

Still, funny comic and Dead Space FTW. Just played through the entire game, enjoyed it a lot. And be ready, it gets way more intense later on...

Dead Space doesn't seem like a good place to start.

my friend got his dads girlfriends son to play dead space and the next morning at school the kid was scared as hell and his friend scared the shit out of him by just walking up to him and touching his shoulder

I actually got through the first 2 chapters of Dead Space 2...DAMN isaac punches like a boss! two punches kills a slasher....and one stomp kills a crawling puker...i do NOT wanna arm wressle isaac x3 especially with the stasis on his back o-o x3!
