Following a mishap that lands a scientist ill, his right-hand man, a doctor, nurses him back to health in his recovery.Doctor's OrdersIt just so happened that Professor Hyde was in the middle of his research working on one of his projects when he suddenly fell ill with a cold, leading the rodent to take a temporary leave of hiatus to recover. Not to say that Dr. Isaac would be leaving too; the mouse doctor stood by his superior, nursing him back to health to help him recover.
After paying a quick visit to his own healthcare doctor, Hyde and Issac were surprised to find out that Hyde indeed has a cold. For that matter, the scientist was advised to rest and recover, keeping himself hydrated and medicated. And Issac, of course, is the one who's always going to be by his side. So the two lab rats went back home where Hyde can take some much needed rest and recovery along with Issac taking care of him.
At the current moment, Hyde is resting in bed when Issac pops inside, carrying a plate of food along with some orange juice. Like usual, the mouse is wearing gloves and a face mask to minimize risk of infection. He informs Hyde, "I brought you something to eat. Hope you enjoy it!"
Seeing the breakfast on the plate, Hyde thanks Issac and rasps, "Thank you, Issac. I appreciate it."
"Anything for you, Hyde! I'll go get some cough drops for you so you can take them later." Isaac leaves the room, leaving Hyde alone to eat his breakfast. And Hyde watches him go where he then trails his eyes down to the plate set on the nightstand beside him. A simple breakfast of fluffy buttermilk pancakes stacked on top of each other along with two pieces of smoked sausage to go along with it.
While gazing at the breakfast on the nightstand beside him, he rasps, "I hope I can keep this down. I want to eat but I fear I may throw up and pass out. I need something to settle my awful aching stomach. Ugh…!"
Slowly raising up, Hyde figures to himself, 'Maybe I can retrieve something to settle my stomach after I eat. Augh, this is nuts! I hate being sick but I am not helpless either; I can still move around but very slowly!'
With his subordinate gone, Hyde is left to himself completely. And after casting one final gaze at the breakfast next to him, the rodent begins to eat, hoping that he won't have to worry about an internal eruption later on.
After a few minutes of eating, Hyde manages to finish his breakfast, though his stomach mildly disagrees with it. Following a few flip-flops from his stomach, an unsettling, queasy sensation wells up inside of Hyde's stomach, forcing the rodent to get up and make a beeline to the bathroom. Poor rodent must have a stomach bug or something.
Following his bathroom break, Hyde returns to his room to see Issac waiting for him with some sort of medicine. The mouse hands Hyde the vial and informs him, "Hyde, you made this tonic when you were researching how to effectively get rid of a cold for chest and head congestion. When I tested it out, I had no problems or side effects. Maybe the same can be said for you! Go on, try it out!"
Seeing the thick blue liquid in the test tube brings back memories of taking basic medicine such as Mucinex and Vicks, but since these had a nasty aftertaste to them, Hyde considered adding something to make it sweet to taste (he reconsidered after Issac warned him about possible lawsuits). Now, Hyde is given a chance to test his own experiment on himself, and ironically, in the best possible circumstance.
Hyde warns Issac, "Isaac, I just ate and that stuff went right through me. If I end up puking, don't bother cleaning it up."
Issac blinks at him through the face mask he is wearing, where he protests, "Hyde, don't worry. If you do happen to upchuck, we'll handle the cleanup. Right now, you should take this and be more focused on getting better. But just in case…" Issac rushes out of the room and returns shortly, carrying a bucket in his hands, "here. Just in case your stomach acts up."
Hyde reluctantly takes the bucket and the tonic that Issac presented to him and disappears inside of his room. But before he can start taking the blue liquid, Hyde snorts and begins coughing, where he eventually manages to spit something out into the bucket. Disgusted, the sick scientist marches back to the bathroom and wipes his mouth with a piece of tissue before coming back. He started coughing up more stuff without even taking anything with him.
When Hyde's coughing fit finally subsides, the moment of truth now arrives where Hyde prepares himself for the inevitable. Will this tonic purge his sickness or make things worse? Time to find out…
Taking the blue tonic, Hyde reluctantly pops the top off of the flask, readying himself to drink the liquid. Finally, after a moment of hesitation, the scientist downs the liquid in one go, waiting for any aftereffects to start happening. Unfortunately, Hyde's stomach begins gurgling and growling after being sent on a rollercoaster. Immediately, he picks up the bucket, preparing himself for the worst.
~~~~~"Good grief, that was awful. But now I'm better. I'm actually better! And it's all thanks to me! Too bad my experiment didn't work as I hoped but now I am better!" After spending what seemed like an eternity draining his insides, Hyde is now completely better, standing outside the balcony of his apartment. And he looked better than he was before - no more looking pale or deathly. But there is a certain someone that Hyde did not thank or give credit to.
"Hyde, what are you doing outside?? You're gonna catch– Oh?" Isaac notices his superior standing outside and goes out to meet him when he sees how much of an improvement he's made, fully cured. The mouse doctor giggles and turns to face him, impressed with the result. "You're better! How did the test go?"
"Apart from feeling like I was going to die, no complications at all. The tonic worked!" Hyde spins around and hugs Issac, "And I have you to thank too!"
"Ah shucks, it's nothing!" Isaac blushed.
The two spend the rest of the day outside until they finally go back inside for some much needed cleanup and relaxation, putting this whole event past them and moving on.
