Tā Hokarinje Švarā is an East Shwayan m’ohn, a Priest of Suniz, and one of the last of his people. He is regarded as a wise and respectful man, invaluable to his remaining community, and a source of comfort and guidance. As such, he is also watched over by the Daughters of Suniz, Štunaza and Kkǫzaša.
Being a Priest of Suniz, Švarā’s most important role is as keeper of the dead. He comforts and helps people in their last days peacefully enter the afterlife through prayer and blessings, and is also obligated to carry out any last requests or wishes of a dying, or recently deceased, person. Švarā also protects their graves from being disturbed.
He also practices what can be considered “consensual necromancy” as can call on the spirits of long-dead warriors, as well as animals long-ago-loved, to aid him in combat, travel, or companionship. However, not just any spirit can be summoned willy-nilly.
Švarā carries a small wolf-skull ornament—roughly palm-sized—that has been passed down through generations, containing the tooth of a long-dead dire wolf; that, when summoned, aids him in combat or travel. Other baubles and jewellery he carries on his person contain remnants of dead warriors who have consented or wished to continue serving Suniz and his Priests. The spirits can also request to end their service once they want to permanently rest, which Švarā obliges and lays them to rest, relieving them of their duties.
*Bonus info because this is from my original world of Athera. “M’ohn” are my combination “orc” and “human” race. They can be described as “tusked-” or “tuskless-m’ohn” if someone requires more information. M’ohn with the tusk gene are generally taller and stockier than m’ohn with the recessive tuskless gene.
**”Tā Hokarinje Švarā” just means “Švarā the Priest”. And “Švarā” means “treasured one” in East Shwayan. His name can also be written as Shvaraa.
**All cultures are comprised of a mix of races, so no culture is specifically “elf” or “m’ohn” culture (okay there are TWO of those but they’re weird and sort of get a pass).
