Once upon a time ....
In a world populated by strange, magical and evil races, three women were brought together by fate to go on an adventure.
Hueli, a nine-tailed fox, was a musician, with her huge drum that could shake the earth and hypnotise her enemies, drive them mad with her or sap their will.
Malea, a rabbit, was Hueli's partner, the group's dancer, able to bind the wind to her graceful movements and create powerful gusts to defend herself and attack anyone who bothered her too closely.
Ixrin, a slender she-wolf, clad in black leather armour and wielding a battle halberd larger than herself with deadly precision. Beheading, spearing and giving thanks to the fools and heretics in her path
Their journey began in a small town on the edge of a dense forest. Hueli, always on the lookout for musical inspiration, had heard of a festivale with thousands, tens of thousands of people. In a lively tavern, Malea sailed between the people dancing to get their coins, which they gave in good grace, hypnotised by Hueli who charmed them with her drumming.
As they discussed the long, perilous journey to a place where neither of them had ever set foot despite all the musical tours they had made, Ixrin introduced herself to her shyly but with conviction. Ixrin knew where it was because she had escorted some merchants a week before, certainly to establish the first foundations of this festival. The trio was thus created.
During the journey, Hueli kept a diary between two pages where she wrote her musical notes. On the third day she disturbed a red dragon that was sleeping in a cave nearby with her drumming. It was much bigger than a house, than a nobleman's manor! He breathed fire, burned the forest, crushed the trees, mowed the ground with his huge tail topped with spikes! All three of them got the better of him easily! The vixen used her percussion to weaken and disorientate the monster while Malea tackled him to the ground with her gusts of wind, preventing his dragon's wings from taking him into the air. It was Ixrin's repeated blows that weakened the ferocious beast, his blood flowing freely, before the she-wolf ended the fight by decapitating the dragon.
The next day, while they were resting, about thirty bandits attacked them, probably because of the cacophony of the duel with the dragon. Men, goblins, trolls and even an ogre! Ixrin went to great lengths to save and protect her fellow travellers, playing with her halberd, her fangs, and her claws. Hueli jumped from tree to tree, fighting the enemies while sometimes drumming to help herself, while Malea performed a deadly dance between the enemies, aided by her wind power. Of course there were casualties... Ixrin with many gashes and a broken arm. Malea had a twisted ankle and a broken ear, while Hueli had bruises all over her body and the skin of the drum was torn, rendering it useless.
It was only three days later that the three of them arrived at the festival. A huge plain with so many people that it was impossible to see anything or anyone. Fires were burning everywhere, and the columns of smoke that could be seen in the distance had led the trio to the festival. Making their way through the multitude of races, peoples, ethnicities, social classes and buildings hastily created for the occasion, Ixrin, Malea and Hueli found a place in a makeshift hostel, made up of a multitude of tents, more or less large, that formed the said hostel.
There, Hueli took charge of telling their adventures to whoever would listen. Standing on a table, dozens and dozens of people around, the vixen told of a duel with a fierce dragon, a battle with thirty raiders, a cave full of gold and a mythical animal that had almost led them to certain death before Malea knocked him out with a huge tree branch.
Ixrin and Malea were a little further away near the bar and listened with a smile.
" - Do you think they will go looking for that cave or hunt that mythical beast?"
" - I fear so..."
" - But still... How does she manage to invent such stories?"
" - She doesn't compose music for nothing. She has lots of ideas! Too many in fact..."
" - You'll have to tell me how I recovered from a broken arm in three days and you from your ankle."
" - Oh, well... Just say it's magic!"
Ixrin smiled and toasted to Hueli's crazy adventures while Malea laughed and toasted to their friendship born of this week's travel.
