Page one of two of the actual "Academy" comic...funny thing, I honestly can't remember what I was actually going to CALL it. I think I was actually going to go with "THE ACADEMY," which is probably all the proof needed that I was apparently going insane at the time due to marital stress and Effexor.
Yeah, this was how serious I was about the St. Harryhausen's storyline: I actually started drawing a comic. This is also part of why my "realization" caused as much of a crisis in me as it did, because I'd gotten this far, THIS serious about it without even realizing what a horrible thing it was that I was writing. Like I said above, I realize now (and my first therapist actually tried to warn me, which is why I ended up switching to a second one) that my supposed sociopathy was due to external stresses and bad medication, but it took me a long time to realize this.
Of note, this was also where I first came up with the non-K-Girl origin of Maisy's name: K-Girl Maisy was named by Zoe, who called her "My Z" (after her being based off Mazinger-Z) and it kinda stuck, but OG!Maisy's name is an acronym. The acronym's changed a few times since, but this was the original one.

Nah...I tried two or three more times to re-use it before I filed it in the "To Do Over" box. It wasn't really the Academy itself as much as it was the "Maisy's studio" storyline...I'd intended it as a big thing where the girls learned to accept their kaijumorph status by learning that the world still thought they were beautiful, and it turned out I was writing a big arc about the benefits of kiddie porn. Needless to say, I fucking freaked and trashed everything. Nowadays, I still want to do something with the world I set up, I just don't know what (and, for the longest time, I flat out just didn't trust myself enough to actually try anything after betraying my beliefs THAT hard).

you aren't bad at the basics of backgrounds, at least. sure it's rougher than some girl's first time in the back of a gremlin, but it's placed so that it can reasonably be said to be a wall back there.
i never did understand what the hell you were trying to do with this comic project back in the day. i just stayed away from it until i could figure it out.
