Even the ones people believe are too naïve or ignorant to understand it...

Marlys, for better or worse...is and can be a fuckup in some fashion. Be it screwing around, trying too hard or biting off more than he knows he can chew, He learns things the hard way for his actions. a couple incidents he caused in fact making him recognize the feeling and feeling like a disappointment to his family, new and old.

He has since in my friend's setting, been TRYING to be better. it's still a work in progress, but..it's better than wasting the life he has now more than he did starting it (and he wasted plenty of time when he first came to them, before giving them all a chance and trying to make up for his actions)
