Base by samalamb-bases.
It was a dark day in Bakersville, not because of anything bad happening there was just a heavy overcast.
Stanley Baker, a rugged husky gentleman and descendant of the town's founder was heading to his office after giving his darling wife of 23 years Cordelia a rather corpulent corgi a passionate kiss.
"See you later honey." Cordelia responded: "See you later my love, and remember.."
*she handed him his briefcase.*
Stanley chuckled: "I know, back before sunset. You know I'm always back in time."
He got in his car and headed off from his modest home to the base of his operations.
A four-story building with plenty of room for creatures of most shapes and sizes, barring giraffes and other tall creatures of the like.
Upon entering the building he is immediately greeted by his most trusted employee Becky.
Becky: "Good morning Mr. Baker! Mr. Agapov is waiting for you in your office. I tried to get him to reschedule, but you know him when he's got his mind on something."
Stanley: "Good morning Becky, thanks for the heads up."
Upon entering his office he is met by Ivan Agapov, the town's mayor.
Ivan: "Hello Stanley, I was hoping we could discuss our kids. I would like to apologize to you and even more so to your son for my niece's actions with him."
Stanley: "I don't blame you, or your niece. I blame myself more than anyone, you and I are old friends Ivan but I shouldn't have let Todd go with Anya. Not because she isn't a lovely girl, I should have known that it wouldn't end well."
Ivan: "Todd is a good guy he treated my little Anya like a queen. And I know until that day, she was always doting on him.
Oh I did have another reason to come over, but I wanted to try and get our issues resolved first."
Stanley: "Ivan you know you can always come to me, what do you need?"
Ivan: "I'm embarrassed to say it, but we don't have enough funds to fix the local orphanage. I was wondering if I could borr- "
Stanley: "Here get whatever you need, you know I can't have the kids going without. This one's on me."
*He handed Ivan a blank check.*
Ivan: "Thank you friend, we'll put up a plaque in your honor for this."
Stanley: "Don't bother, you know I don't like being in the spotlight."
The old friends shook hands before Ivan left. Later that day Stanley's newest employee Kayla came in with his 2 o'clock appointment, a skunk that was late on paying his depts...
Stanley: "Samuel, you know I'm a patient dog but you are nearly three-months overdue on your payments. You know what happens to folks that don't pay up right?"
Samuel: "I know Mr. Baker, please I just need one more week!" *the fear in his voice was audible.*
Stanley: "I gave you "one more week" for a month, my patience with you is running out. Do I need to send my collection agent after you?"
Samuel: "No sir, anything but that! Please just, two more days my check comes in then!"
Stanley: "Two days Samuel, or Aberash is going to come collecting. And you and I both know, she isn't as forgiving about money."
Samuel started backing up, and bumped into the aforementioned dept collector. A powerful liontaur with golden eyes.
Aberash: "Little man, you better hope I don't come calling to your door. It'd be a shame to have to- *she made a slashing motion in front of his throat.* Hahaha!"
Samuel: "I-I'll get your money I swear I will!" *he said exiting the room.*
Stanley: "Girls, make sure he doesn't try to skip town."
Darlene and Stephanie nodded before following behind the skunk.
Anywhere he went the girls were nearby ready to grab him if he left town limits.
Samuel was running out of time, 40 hours later he still didn't have the cash as he heard to either side of him.
Darlene: "You got our money yet skunk boy?"
Stephanie: "Daddy will be awfully upset if he has to get Aberash after you."
Darlene: "It'd be a shame if you ended up as lion chow, you aren't my type but you're pretty cute."
Stephanie: "Cute for a deadbeat delinquent, you've got eight hours punk."
With five minutes left to go Samuel still didn't have the money, the canine duo were still stalking him.
Stephanie: "Tick-Tock dead-meat."
Samuel: "D-don't you mean deadbeat?"
Stephanie: "I'm not the one with the stutter shorty."
Darlene: "Just got a text from the boss, Aberash is on her way. Such a shame, bye little guy it was nice knowing you."
Samuel: "Please I'll do anything just don't let her get me!" *He said begging on his knees.*
Stephanie: "You shouldn't borrow what you can't pay back punk. Look on the bright side, you don't have to worry about it anymore." Darlene: "Let's get out of here before the carnage starts hun."
The girls then leave Samuel in the alley to meet his fate at the lioness's claws.
What was pounding louder, Samuel's panicked heart or Aberash's footsteps rushing towards him?
Aberash bowled him over and pinned him under her front feet, keeping him in place.
Samuel: "Please have mercy on me!"
Aberash: "The boss has been giving you mercy, you are well past due."
She stepped down harder, causing an audible crack.
Samuel wailed in pain feeling his bones breaking.
Aberash: "You know the boss doesn't care what I do to delinquent customers, and I skipped breakfast today so...."
Samuel: "No no no not that, anything but that!"
She then scooped him up, and released her hot, wet breath in his face opening her mouth wide.
After returning to the office, Aberash laid her bottom half down on the floor near her desk and started on her paperwork for the day.
Stanley: "I guess he didn't pay up huh Abby?"
She stifled a belch, not wanting to be rude in front of her employer.
Aberash: "Yeah, no dice on the cash boss. Runt couldn't pay out."
Stanley: "Well I guess we can just count that as a loss."
Aberash: "Yes sir, unfortunately."
Stanley: "It's about time for lunch, you want to go get a bite downstairs with me?"
Aberash: "Thank you for the invitation sir, but I grabbed something on the way back to the office."
Stanley: "Very well then, keep up the good work. Sure I can't grab you something?"
Aberash: "If they have a strawberry-banana smoothie I might take one of those if you don't mind."
He patted her on the shoulder as he headed to the dining area.
Stanley: "Sure, anything for one of my best workers."
