It's no secret that I'm a fan of Magic the Gathering, so in anticipation of the release of March of the Machine, part of my mind got to wondering what would happen if my own plane, Crossroads, was invaded by the Phyrexian menace. And as I was contemplating the idea,
balalaevGod put up this YCH, and everything fell into place.
In my head, I imagine Volpes and his titans, due to the mutations they underwent to transform into what they are today, would be immune, or at least highly resistant, to Phyresis. And in order to preserve the plane, they and other major powers on the plane would work together to confront the threat.
So here we have Azurium, doubtless one of the plane's most capable warriors, outfitted with a new weapon the artificer's guild at the Magistrum reverse-engineered from old war machines. Though complete, the resulting prototype was too heavy for anyone but Edmund to properly wield, and the storm mage had no use for just weaponry.
But mutual threats make for unlikely allies, and though its inventors were incapable of wielding it, Volpes's second-in-command is under no such restrictions. These Phyrexian invaders are in for a rude awakening if they believe Crossroads will bend the knee.
Their ancestors survived the Planeswalker Wars, and this is their turn to step up to the plate.
Though this is non-canon, I think this is infinitely closer to my vision of the canon timeline than the similar piece I got with The Emperor. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/51562057/
Volpes hates the Magistrum, but when it comes to self-preservation and the defense of the people he fights on behalf of, he'll do what he has to do. Even if that means swallowing his pride and working with the institution he ran away from as a younger man.

Personally I'd go with immunity to phyrexian conversion. If Volpes had given his Titan potion across the Crossroads during the Phyrexian Invasion without the mental influence additive he'd most likely be celebrated as a hero, and it'd be harder to take him down especially if he makes it the same way for children like Edmund.
If I understood all the stuff from "Bad End" Enigma once he transformed thanks to Volpes, people on this plane undergo a process very similar to phyresis except it doesn't use nanomachines to make people devout. That can feasibly make them immune to to the oil Phyrexiana use, since the energy that caused the transformation of people into warriors in Crossroads can serve as antibodies. Fun idea!
It's not quite a devotion or mind control. Volpes's potion has the side effect of inducing loyalty to the titan. In Emperor Enigma's case, his own magic mixed with the potion to result in a dramatic change to his personality.
But I do think it would make sense for them to be immune.
