When Ontari's T'vaoan unit took heavy losses during the Invasion of Reach, she was less than impressed when Cor Zan was assigned as a new member, feeling she didn't have the patience to babysit and mentor some new rookie who would hesitate and shy away from combat, mess up her reloads, and struggle to keep up.
Ontari saw it as punishment for modifying her armor, and knew Cor Zan didn't like being there, nor being around her.
This, along with many other frustrations would later end up pushing her to justify stealing a binary rifle from a minor prophet's personal collection, for her own use.
Cor Zan would be the first to notice the unique rifle, asking Ontari where she found it only to be met with the response that she had 'earned' it, while teasing Cor Zan about being too clumsy to ever steal anything herself. To which Cor Zan ended up surprising her and even earning some respect by showing off a new human sniper she had recently acquired.
