Vyvyan: Still Rebellious
"We're early for the show. Wanna get some kebabs?"
Vyvyan is one of my earlier Pokemon-based characters I had created around the same time as Lavvy. She was one of Lavvy's dorm-mates at the Academy, and they got along pretty well. Mostly because this was at the time when Lavvy was still the very shy mummified rattata that I had originally envisioned.
Vyv is very angry at the world, and has a tendency to express herself in very antagonistic ways. She comes from a wealthy family that she has disowned for their austerity. She works at a popular used book store that tends to attract the more radical individuals of society, something that fuels her passions. In her free time, she likes to partake in independent films and write about the injustices of the world in her various blogs and zines.
In my high school level of maturity, I had envisioned her as being a fusion of the characters of Rik and Vyvyan from the odd early 80's BBC sitcom The Young Ones.
I got inspired to redraw her after watching Wings Of Desire while I was sick. While that film inspired more in me than just drawing a punk Psyduck, it was the visuals of late 80's West Berlin that really got me hankering for her to live in a place like that.
And I didn't intend to pose her like an Albert Camus photo, but I wouldn't say that's a bad thing.
