Veles was not born a god. He was born a normal mortal with a gift for music. A god took a particular liking to this mortal musician. The god offered to make a deal with him to grant him his greatest wish. Veles wanted to make music that he feels in his heart that can touch the hearts of others. The god granted his wish by ripping through Veles' chest and removed his heart. The god turned the musicians heart into an instrument that burned with an un-scolding fire and produced melodies of such purity that they attracted lost souls out of their hiding spots and prisons. Even gods were moved by his songs.

Over time, Veles would start perceiving the world as though it was bathed in flames. The true form of the god was visible to him. White wings with black stripes, wings with the appearance of broken mirrors along the outer part of the wings, and the eyes. The burning, glowing red eyes that bore down to his very soul. His music started to change, becoming more and more sad as he could no longer ignore his altered surroundings. The music has become so sad that souls of all kinds have started flocking to him to give him comfort.

One last parting "gift" from the god was to make Veles a god himself. Veles became known as the cursed god of music.

Home Plane, Aria: Because he is a relatively new god, Veles' home plane consists of a theater with every instrument imaginable on site. He rarely ever calls mortals to his realm though good souls and kind gods will visit him often to try cheering him up. Those gods are also helping him find a way to become whole again and remove Shattered Mirror's hold on him. As much as he tries, he has been unable to banish the one god he despises. Shattered Mirror can come and go as he pleases and regularly visits to torment him.
