This was recorded in September, yet my excuse for not having gotten it out sooner remains the same.
Because I'm sure someone will take umbrage, my intent in the opening segment is not to lump screamo under the black metal category; my problems with the two genres are the same, however, which is why I mention them together.
I don't know why I keep going over 10 minutes. D: Maybe I shouldn't worry about it too much, you all seem to keep listening. Goddamn, though, 13:45? :/ I need to work on my estimatin'. Please appreciate my ironic music choice, it's intentional.
Also, I guess I ought to add that Pepper Coyote asked me to review his album, and if you've got an album that you'd like me to review, just go ahead and ask. If it's already lined up, I'll let you know, otherwise, I'll give it a shot. Also, you're more likely to get a good review if I'm already watching you, just sayin'.

Well one way of looking at the growling/screaming is the fact much if its purpose isn't to convey the lyrics in the traditional sense, but to add another, almost instrumental aspect to the song. Im not disagreeing when it comes to understanding it, but most death metal fans I know in my town never were too heavy into the lyrics. The majority I find are focused heavily on the instrumental of the songs, like I said, treating the vocals as another instrument that conveys raw emotions through screaming/growling rather than lyrics.
Do you know German then? Because you reviewed Rammstein and without knowing the language, you can't understand the lyrics.
And as Ferahgo said, some people (like me) don't pay much attention to lyrics. I actually disliked a few songs after I realised what they were about because of the dumb lyrics...
Death/Doom/Black Metal is about the music, not the words for me. Sure, I like some songs for their lyrics, but those are spoken clearly. On most songs, the words are a melody, a tone, another instrument, as Ferahgo said.

MY main beef with death metal is I hate the quality of the vocals and these people need to learn how to sing. However, I recognize that not everyone cares about that, and so I also utilize the argument that the lyrics are unintelligible to try and demonstrate why others might not find the genre enjoyable.
Although I could be wrong, the whole 'lots of harsh noise' deal probably doesn't sit well with a lot of music listeners. :B

In my usual occasional search for "border collie" on Fah, which usually leads to disappointment and sadness in the results, I noticed something familiar- something from Mr. TakeWalker. I've listened to a few of these in the past, though I'm so dreadfully far behind on them I dare not even mention what the last one was I listened to. Whenever I bring my iPod back from the dead, or simply buy a new one, I'll be able to catch up on the long drives a make in my car, certainly. But who knows when that may be. >_<
Regardless of my own shortcomings, it's good to see you're still making these. Always a pleasure to hear your insight... though I'd be lying if I said it weren't also equally delightful to simply hear that voice of yours. ^^ Though I know you've heard that plenty of times before, so it's hardly as though I'm showering you with some new form of praise. Still, do keep up the lovely work! Just don't be surprised if I start commenting on these long after they've been made; I will catch up on them someday!

Oh, and I forgot to mention- I'm glad you're giving
witus a mention, here. I've always thought it was a shame he didn't get more publicity. So kudos to you. ^^ Alright, I promise I'm done spamming your comments, here....

They're certainly fun to listen to, of course- so as I said, I'm glad to see you're still doing them. I'm just sorry I don't really comment on them. >_< I've been terrible with not commenting, lately... but it's something I'll be working on, hopefully. And you always do flatter me enough, as it is, silly boy... I'm quite honoured that you still enjoy "The End", even despite the somewhat lackluster vocals therein on my part. *Snickerwoofs* Either way, you're always worthy of such praise as I've given- I wouldn't say something I didn't mean. ^^
Also, random: I hope you're surviving well around this time! Not sure how much snow you got in your part of the state, but we're slowly uncovering ourselves here... even though it's still coming down....

ohh hehehe thank you so much ^^ and yes you pronounced it good for me XD sometimes i was wondering how could it sound like
well, what can i say, thanks for a feature, that means a lot to me :)
Ahhh screaming, growling is a music to my ears ^__________^ nothin can be better than a good growl ;p
of course too much of it can destroy song, unless its a good and clean growl not a gurgle xP and of course if you can understand what they are singing about :P

Sir I could not agree with you more on the subject of screamo, metal core, black metal, and death metal, though I admit I occasionally listen to Dethklok (not sure why, probably the guitar solos), I personally have little to no taste for screaming and distorted vocals of the like.
I am from a town where every other teenager thinks they are going to be the next big thing in screamo or metalcore, so in this situation every musician is caught up in the nonsense only to face ultimate musical failure. with the town being in this state of ignorance it tends to take those of us who actually appreciate music down with it (just as it has intended) making it impossible for one to find a musician of a common genre to play with. Its sickening really, and to be honest I don’t blame the music, I blame the people, they are the ones who are at fault because they are the ones who choose to indulge by wallowing in their own cultural filth.

Just for the record: screamo has nothing to do with death metal, black metal or any type of metal.
Personally, I like alot of different vocal-styles and to me it very much depends on the person doing the screaming/grunting. Some people can pull it off very convincing, other people sound like complete retards (System of a Down is a prime example of that IMO; I can't stand their vocals).
As for musicality, it all depends on the message you're putting out. If your making an agressive statement and you want to blow off some steam / make people feel a certain emotion then sometimes screaming is necessary. Even if you can't always make out the lyrics, its the intention behind the vocals that matter more with this kind of music if you ask me.
Those are my thoughts. :)

Well I disagree obviously, but my point was that there is no musical relation between screamo and any type of metal. Screamo is more related to the emo genre.
As for bands who constantly use harsh vocals, sure they can get boring but that can be said about everything :). I consider myself to be a huge omnivore when it comes to music. I like nearly every genre of music with the exception of rap and R&B because of their general lack of melody and emotion.
Listening to a wide range of (metal)bands, I can tell you that not every harsh vocalist does the typical 'cookie monster' growls over and over again. I know a couple of bands that can create a nice diversity with different vocalstyles, and thats how I think harsh vocals should be implementen in music. Killing Joke's latest albums are a good example of having harsh vocals, but still being intelligable and with melody. For quality death metal vocals I think Opeth is great.

Well okay then, you right it is opinion, but there is a quality factor, like some one just making a bunch of noise, or some one actually trying to make the different tones and make it understandable, and yes this is my onion. I think maybe what I am trying to say as a "good vocalist" is when there is that effort put in, the feeling, the care. Like old Metallica blows my mind in the complexity and shear talent, and feeling that are in the songs, but this new crap, It seems like lars ulrich was running out of Napster cash so they just cranked out some songs.
Yeah I get that with genres I don't normally listen too. And honestly most people get in to death metal by using it for working out or a sport. I used to ride the down hill mountain biking stuff. Getting the adrenalin going with that music let me do some really crazy stuff, After about 2 months I fell I love with it.
I do not like rap however I like screaming, but do not overdo it or I am bored like Linkin Park I am not death meal bound but like Progressive metals and Symphonic metal like Apocalyptica and some grindcore, and grunge, rock, and heavy alternative and punk but those are my opinion. I think you are nice updater every now and again, you keep up the good work and I will now keep listening too, as long as here after the 19 it is not all MLP related reviews LoL.
