Gankuu, like Sanoske and Abigail, are dragons from another planet that were affected by another alien race that abducted their species and turned them into their own troops. Unlike the other two, Gankuu managed to escape in his youth with some others.
He actually knew Abigail before her alteration (Note: Remember that 'Abigail' is the name given to her later on, and isn't her original name, but for simplicity sake I will still use the name), if only slightly, as she was fairly well known and Gankuu looked up to her. Frustrated in his inability to become a knight, Abby suggested that if knighthood wasn't going to work out, he should be a farmer. Farmers are quite important and kept people fed. Gankuu initially took this advice to heart.
The invasion put a stop to such plans, and would find himself on another planet. However, due to his emotions over losing his home planet for a time, being on a new planet, and his inability to find a place to set up a farm, he would decide to take up a more "punk" persona. He was the resident tough guy in the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, Shade is a fairly meek bat. At a young age she was set to become a doctor, and became very competent in her studies. Sadly, she didn't have enough funds to fully pursue a doctorate. Especially since she wasn't in the best of neighborhoods, and would eventually be known as a "Street Doctor". Even if she doesn't have a license or the documentation, she is kept busy with various visitors for various reasons. Some of these reasons involve Gankuu tossing someone he beat up into her possession.
Admittedly, while Shade gained an attraction to him fairly quickly, it was largely physical. But, despite his rough nature, she could tell that there something else... no matter how badly he beat someone up, he would take them to her place. Sometimes he would bring in wounded ones and he had nothing to do with their injuries.
Shade remained ignorant of Gankuu's past, though, and Gankuu would keep, in secret, a small space ship he would use for some travel. This would lead to his capture, though. A group that would, for the hell of it, place a parasitic creature inside him called the O'kamun. In ideal circumstances, the O'kamun would take over the host body and propagate its species. However, O'kamun can be spaient as well.
In desperation, Gankuu make his way back to Shade to remove the O'kamun, which had manifested in his midsection. The O'kamun wanted to take over, although didn't quite understand Gankuu's objection and wanted Shade to remove him. However, out of some uncertainty, she deemed it beyond her abilities to remove it. It was then, that the O'kamun heard her voice. While unable to see, he could certainly hear her, and became quite polite towards Shade. Wishing to remain in a position where he could listen to a lovely voice, on top of knowing how much Gankuu wanted to have his body, the O'kamun made a deal to all him to stay, and he wouldn't take over more than he already had (And at this poing the O'kamun couldn't live long outside of Gankuu's body).
Something of an uneasy grouping occured. Gankuu was around more often, which Shade liked, and the O'kamun, which consistently praised her, which was also nice (and would lead to Gankuu calling him a "Cassanova", which he took on as a name). Gankuu and Cass, over time, got used to each other (not that he had no other choice), and Gankuu would notice that Shade had feelings for him.
well, what is Gankuu to do but get used to it?

It's nice, but I get a weird impression.... the characters are shaded, but in a very simple way, and on its own, it works fine, but I do feel mixed on the choice for background. It gives a sort of detailed impression, which doesn't quite feel complimentary of the foreground characters.
Still, it's mostly me nitpicking, so no worries.
