I may continue to add to this; I'll move this one to scraps and link the longer completed version to this description if the time ever comes.
The Thursday Prompt this time was a little strange; we had to work off of a scene. I had several thoughts about isolation, images, and finally consciousness, and I dusted off an old character whose sense of self is very different. If you don't pick up on it from here, he's sort of a detachable flower. I can try to dig up other times I've written about him. (I've called him Aurecht before--and he's on Tapestries! Go pay him a visit if you're a buff bovine, cervine, equine.)

It was also about this time that I started seeing loads of very similar stories (some outright taking the idea), and those other stories getting lots more attention than I've ever been able to rustle up here, so...I guess it was a sort of disgust, coupled with a feeling like if copycats could do it better than I could, then why bother?
Now there are tons of characters that have ovipositors and insert things into folks all over Twitter, Telegram, Discord, here...I guess this is an instance of me being one of those "Yuck, this is too mainstream for me" people and walking away from something just because it got too popular.
