Indeed! The fact the show was both dark and intentionally ugly is what drew me to it as a kid, because it was my first exposure to anything like that and it interested me WAY more than generic happy pretty stuff. I find flaws ironically beautiful in a way.
And yeah, it's definitely one of those cases where I respect the art but not the person whatsoever (and not just for that one reason). He wasn't the only guy working on the show anyway.

ETA: I do feel slightly conflicted when hearing John K.'s audibly unhinged voice work now, because it's still entertaining and funny but the guy was acting much less than expected and was actually unhinged.
