I remember those guys from the Archie comics and the TV show based off the comic. Though that one looks much better than the ones "Chrome Dome" manufactured, lol.

though the cartoon and comic came out very close to each other, the comic was definitely based more on the cartoon than the other way around. In fact when the comic started it had more in common with the syndicated Adventures cartoon, even if it had a setting more like the saturday morning one. Roughly 20 or so issues in, due to feedback from readers, the comic's tone was changed to be a closer match to the Saturday morning one
