Edwin Sketch-a-Week: W17

"It was just like any other night in Neo-Taiwan: hover cars were gliding by, young people clattered down the street comparing their augments to their peers, and the dull hum of electricity through the neon lighting. You walk down a side ally to meet with Edwin, an old acquaintance that required a few favors to speak to directly. He was doing you a "good turn," as he called it, to look through your resume to help you infiltrate Shipiro Corp., the local Techno Lord's front organization, as a Grade IIb implantologist..."
Joking-aside, this is a wonderful rendering of a 16-bit visual novel set in a techno-punk universe. I especially enjoy the worn out expression in Edwin's eyes and his general annoyance seen in his mussel, eyebrows, and tilt of the head. Masterful job of conveying so much emotion with a minimal number of frames.
[Rating note: keep in mind that the scales are based on the type of art being rated. Pixel graphics acquire their charm due to the innate limitations of the art form. Expect to see some skewed scale outcomes because the question becomes, for example: How much detail is there in the piece (for a pixel art, shoulder length).]
Detail = well beyond Plenty (for pixel art). There is a great amount of shading effects included in the animation (e.g., shirt collar, edges around the face). The spots do a fine job of occupying blank space on the face and neck.
Shape & Borders = just shy of slightly Soft, Round Lines. All the lines have a gentle curve to them. Also, the light shading do a nice job of blunting some of the jagged edges that are iconic to pixel art.
Anthro type = Anthro. The snout and ears are convincing. I also like how the cheek fur came out.
Furry Art Style Category = Animalia style, but close to Technical.
