Nexus crossed his arms and shivered, feeling the light fall breeze through his fur. Wearing only the basics of clothing. A dry crunch of leaves was all that was heard, as he made his way through the forest. Treading deeper and deeper through the trees, away from any from any homesteads. His ears pivoting to each sound, hearing the wind shake the trees and leaves. Watching the last few fall to the ground.
He stopped only for a moment, taking in a deep breath of the cool air. Watching his breath turn into a icy haze as it left. He smiled briefly at this, allowing himself a quick moment of joy. The last rays of the sun bathed the trees in a dull orange. Aspens and oaks quaking in the wind. The eastward sky contrasting the forest itself, only providing light from an eerie moon.
He ached for the sun to stay, knowing what would happen once it disappeared below the horizon. He swallowed hard, the gulp racing down his throat. Fear and anxiety grasping at his soul, hoping he wouldn't lose control again. Stopping by a nearby rock, he lets out a slow controlled breath. Trying to calm his nerves. Closing his eyes before seeing last little bits of the sun slowly disappear. The forest now being covered by a hauntingly beautiful cooling mist.
Nexus stopped to listen once more. The birds had nestled in for the night, and has stopped chirping. Fearing if they were heard. The only thing that dared speak was the whispering wind. Only providing menacing words he wouldn't listen to.
Turning his cyan eyes up to the night sky, he could see the twinkle of the stars. Their twinkle adding small joyous lights, feeling like the only thing he could call a friend. Shining brightly against the darkness. But even now, heavy clouds came rolling in. Blocking their light slowly. Twirling and dancing, as if they were rolling in their laughter at Nexus.
Looking away from the disappearing stars, the moon as full and as bright as ever caught his gaze. Fixating himself on the ball, as it slowly dragged itself across the sky. Only it's light strong enough to break through the clouds.
As the moon caught Nexus staring at it, he felt an odd tingling running up and down his spine. More akin to an unnerving chill the longer it sat. Realizing what was happening, he trudged on further into the forest. Wanting to be a safe distance from any person.
The tingling turned to itching, the itching turning to stinging. Nexus tried to desperately hold off the changes, but feeling it nagging in his head. Wanting to take over. The longer he resisted, the longer it felt time was moving on. And grew more painful.
With a hallowed breath, he had to stop. As the pain had started to take hold of his skin, creeping its way in. He grabed at his arms, claws slightly digging in. Letting out a muffled growl, trying to take control of his body once more. But the pain grew, aching at his stomach and heart. Taking away the air in his lungs.
The pain forced him to his knees, hardly keeping a paw on the cold dirt. Forcing himself to stay there, as the transformation forced itself on him. Unable to breath or scream, a single tear jerked away from his eye. Keeping them closed for this part.
He felt the shirt on his back tightening, as his torso started to take the shape of a wolf. Shoulders cracking their way down, his cries of pain still muffled. Ripping his shirt with every movement, revealing thickening fur. His waist forced itself down as well, following a similar pattern as his shoulders. Nexus now taking a quadrupedal stance.
His muzzle started to extend forward, and narrowed by a touch to a more canine like form. Feeling like a sledgehammer was beating it by every centimeter it grew. His ears taking a pointed shape, adjusting to the sounds of the forest. His face almost indistinguishable from a wolf at distance. Other than the sinister glow of his eyes. Piercing through the mists chilly viel.
While his outsides began to take shape and form, his insides began twisting and turning. His stomach sloshing around, his heart beating so fast he could feel it almost beating out of his chest. The aching turning to adrenaline, as his lungs finally filled back up with air. Nexus releasing it back into the world, as a bone chilling howl.
Opening his eyes, the darkness has given way to his eyes. Seeing things with a dull detail. Every leaf moving in the wind, as his new ears listened to it's whispers. Telling him to hunt. Leaving his quadrupedal stance, in favor of a Shakey two legged form. He takes in deep breaths of the forest, almost tasting every scent. Deer... Owls... Rabbits... Squirrels.
But the whispers darkened, something else was in the forest with him. Something that didn't belong. He turned his head and dropped back down to all fours. Licking his lips, sniffing once more to get a hold of the scent. He tried to throw off the thoughts of the hunt, but his empty stomach craved something that was close. And this scent was the closest.
