Oh god, okay, this one might require some explaining...
While discussing WoF, my friends and I jokingly made an alternate continuity we call the "Car AU", where pretty much everything is largely the same as originally, except dragons drive around in vehicles instead of flying. It kicks off with Tsunami hot-wiring Dune's car at the beginning of the story and she and Clay take it on a joyride through the Sky Kingdom.
Also, milestone: this is my first time drawing Sunny. I have been itching to do that for a while now. She is absolutely gorgeous and this drawing does not do her justice.

Ah yes, the scene in the graphic novel where Tsunami gets taken over by road rage and cusses out some guy for his driving, who then later turns out to be her dad.
Unfortunately, she seems to be one of the two of their group who know how to drive. The other one is Sunny, and who's gonna let her behind the wheel? That would be silly.

Nah, his problem is that he doesn't do that. He just won't speak up about it, like, ever. It's usually Clay who notices what's going on and tells the others before Starflight explodes, or causes another Delta Drive incident.
I don't know if they can fly in this universe. I drew their wings a bit smaller; they might be vestigial. Maybe this is why cars had to be invented.

Starflight pretty much aced the theoretical portion of the driving test, but he's hopeless when actually behind the wheel. He's too freaked out about the laws of inertia and how much potential energy he is loading into his fragile, squishy body by accelerating, that he compulsively hits the brakes whenever the car goes beyond 30 mph.
He also has a habit of backseat driving; you have to keep him distracted or else he will go off on lectures about why you absolutely can't cross the intersection when the light turns yellow and you need to come to a full stop at every yield sign.
Okay, maybe it's not THAT bad, but it has happened once or twice.
Despite her temperament issues though, Tsunami surprisingly actually is a fairly solid driver. Glory likes to throw shade, but she knows this and is thus content with the arrangement, even if she has to be snarky about it.

I imagine they ended up the way they did because they had to learn how to drive from the guardians... which meant getting yelled at by Kestrel even more. Clay and Starflight couldn't or didn't want to handle it, Tsunami powered through it with sheer determination and spite, and Sunny managed to pick it up as well, though nobody really trusts her in the driver's seat. Glory wasn't even asked. She has the potential to be good at driving, but the guardians' atrocious parenting gave her a complex about it and now she doesn't even want to learn.
Sunny at least has a glow-up in book 5, where she gets her own car. It's a Volkswagen Beetle.

Just finished the first 5 books a few days ago for the first time, and OMG this is the PERFECT representation of their journey! Tsunami and Glory in the front, with Tsunami as an agressive driver and Glory as the "backseat driver", Clay eating, Starflight complaining and lecturing others with Sunny being happy and cute^^
Only thing missing is somebody trying to kill them xD
