It's more that this anatomy doesn't really have a waist to reliably keep clothing secured around! Even for a boring human, having even a little weight in your pockets while running in loose clothing like sweatpants can cause them to sag or otherwise bounce uncomfortably against the hips.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that. I suppose a better way would be a form-fitting harness with a backpack or some pouches.

You can look at the hiking bags we design for domestic dogs for decent examples; characters that are capable of both bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion will need more straps to secure it snugly to their chest, but makes a perfect place to secure some pouches along the straps for practicality. Covering them up with loose, breathable clothing such as a poncho also looks quite fashionable, and still allows their natural fur to work as nature intended.
