Actually, that was something I actually did when I taught women's self defense courses. And yes, I strapped on some heels myself. Because you don't get to pick when someone tries to jump you, and that might be when you're in heels. So you need to learn how to react while in heels.

Also, heels are a pretty good way of making sure you are placing your feet correctly, because your ankles will feel it if you don't. So... as a training technique, valid?

As for Alyza, it's a cultural thing, she won't ask that the Miss return a bow of respect, as she's a grandmaster in her eyes, but since she's a former student, as a means of respecting her culture, other masters return the bow, even if they speak informally with her. Meeting another master, who essentially spits on her tradition with such informality, makes her want to defend that tradition, and 'educate' someone. How it ends, you'll find out sometime ^^
